The Gray-Bogart residence is a four-story Greek Revival style building constructed in 1855 for George S. Gray. The property was rehabilitated from 2015 to 2017 to restore the single-family side hall plan and use from the existing multi-family configuration. Architectural plans for rehabilitating the property were prepared by Ward Architecture + Preservation who also prepared the rehabilitation tax incentive applications and guided designs and construction to meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation of Historic Structures so as to best preserve significant character defining features.
Through this effort, the historic materials were restored and character-defining features maintained and reconstructed where needed. These efforts resulted in the Historic Preservation Award from Historic Savannah Foundation in 2018. Additionally, the property was selected by Traditional Home to serve as the 2017 Southern Style Now “Designer Showhouse.”
